The Empire Strikes 4 Bucks was featured recently in an article published by the Buffalo State Record. Culture editor Lucy Lopez interviewed the event’s founder and co-chair Nick Rockwell and parent Darleen Stry who attended our first annual event.  Here is an excerpt from the article:

“Since you were with a bunch of families that had kids with autism, I felt comfortable there,” Stry said. “For a change the people next to me didn’t look like I was an alien when my kid started to ‘sing’ between frames.”

Year one

Our first attempt at hosting a Star Wars themed bowling fundraiser for Autism Awareness was a big hit! We raised a substantial amount of money for Summit Educational Resources and many guests came out to have fun. Team Rebels out-scored Team Empire in our bowling competition. We had many guests with autism who had a great time. Over 50 prizes were won in our basket raffle and one lucky winner went home with over $300 from our 50/50 raffle. Oogie games was there with Star Wars video games. The stars of the show, of course were from Buffalo’s very own The North Ridge Fanforce. Star Wars characters from the light side and dark side of the force came together to help us raise money and awareness for autism! Thank You to everyone who participated and supported us. There were many of you!!
