Thanks to all of our community partners!

We owe a big thanks to all of our partners from the 716 community who donated items for our basket raffle. They helped make our event a big success!  Thanks to our community partners we were able to raise money for Summit Educational Resources and raise awareness for autism.

Over 40 guests walked away with amazing baskets in their hands. Some of the highlights were: Autographed Tyler Myers jersey, Vera Bradley bag & blanket set, birthday party at Oogie Games, toys from Raff & Friends, tickets from Bisons, Bandits, and WWE, and many gift cards from local businesses.

The Empire Strikes 4 Bucks was featured recently in an article published by the Buffalo State Record. Culture editor Lucy Lopez interviewed the event’s founder and co-chair Nick Rockwell and parent Darleen Stry who attended our first annual event.  Here is an excerpt from the article:

“Since you were with a bunch of families that had kids with autism, I felt comfortable there,” Stry said. “For a change the people next to me didn’t look like I was an alien when my kid started to ‘sing’ between frames.”

The Empire Strikes for Bucks: Update

A friend of mine shared this photo on my Facebook timeline this week.  Another good friend shared good news in our search for a bowling alley to hold our event next year.  I’ve been busy lately but these developments convince me that it is time to start planning for next year’s event.  There is much to do, especially if we want to make this bigger and better than last year (and we do want to make it bigger and better than last year).  I hope to share some news soon regarding a date and location.
